Overview

Dataminded was founded in August 2014 by Kris Peeters, who had previously spent four years as a technology specialist at McKinsey & Company driving ETL and data-platform engagements for global clients. The company is headquartered at Vismarkt 17 in Leuven, with a second office on the Boomgaardstraat in Antwerp, and positions itself as a pragmatic data engineering partner that ships data platforms instead of slideware.

The consulting arm designs, builds, and operates cloud data platforms on AWS, Azure, and GCP, covering big data architectures, MLOps, data science delivery, and increasingly data mesh implementations. Long-running engagements span Telenet, KBC, the Flemish Government, bpost, De Persgroep, Goodyear, and Essent, giving the firm exposure across financial services, telecom, retail, energy, and the public sector. The team is one of Belgium's deeper benches of senior data engineering talent, with around 30 to 40 FTEs visible in financial filings and a partner structure that includes Pascal Knapen as CTO, Maikel Peeters as COO, and senior engineers Stijn De Haes, Niels Claeys, Jonny Daenen, and Jelle De Vleminck.

Dataminded also incubated Conveyor, a managed DataOps and data-product workbench that lets engineering teams develop, deploy, and operate data applications without rebuilding platform plumbing for every customer. Conveyor was launched by Stijn De Haes and Niels Claeys out of repeated Dataminded engagements and now runs as a separate product brand on top of the consulting business. Alongside Conveyor, the company maintains an open-source Data Product Portal for publishing, discovering, and governing data products inside enterprises.

Notes

Dataminded is one of the canonical case studies for the Belgian consultancy-to-product pattern, alongside firms like In The Pocket. The Conveyor spin-out is the clearest expression of that, productising patterns that the consulting business kept rebuilding for each new enterprise data platform.
