Dropon
TLDR
Dropon is a Ghent-based last-mile delivery management SaaS platform, founded in 2018 by Anthony Viaene after the acquisition of his prior cargo-bike delivery startup Bubble Post by bpost.
Overview
Dropon's origin traces back to 2012, when Anthony Viaene and collaborators launched Bubble Post, an ecological last-mile delivery service in Ghent using cargo bikes and electric vehicles. When Bubble Post scaled and needed delivery management software, the team found nothing on the market that fit their needs, so they built their own. In 2017, bpost, the Belgian postal operator, acquired Bubble Post.
Following the acquisition, Viaene focused on Dropon as a standalone software product, incorporating it in 2018. The platform provides route planning, delivery monitoring, and operational management tools for last-mile logistics operators. It targets delivery companies, retailers with own-fleet distribution, and urban logistics providers.
Dropon completed a pre-seed funding round backed by Five Oaks Partnership, allowing it to invest in product development and customer acquisition beyond its Ghent roots.
