Overview

Founded in 2017 in Ghent by Arvid De Coster (CEO), Bjorn Vuylsteker (CTO), and Remi Wildschut (CFO), WeGroup targets the insurance broker channel rather than going direct-to-consumer. The company's thesis is that brokers are the enduring intermediary in the Belgian insurance market, but they need modern software to compete in an increasingly digital environment.

The core product is a quoting and advisory platform that streamlines the broker workflow: risk analysis, document management, product comparison across carriers, and client communication. Louise, WeGroup's AI virtual assistant, operates 24/7 and automates much of the client intake and product matching process, allowing brokers to spend more time on relationship-driven work.

WeGroup raised a pre-seed round of EUR 1.5M in 2018-2019 supported by imec.istart (the Flemish tech accelerator), PMV, and the Belgian government. A EUR 3M late seed round followed from Seederfund and a Paris-based VC. Total funding is approximately EUR 6M across four rounds. The company's most recent disclosed raise was a $3.54M Series A in August 2020.
