Founded by Gary Vanbutsele and Bram Billiet, Whale was built to solve what Gary describes as "leaky bucket syndrome" in growing companies: as teams scale, institutional knowledge leaks out through poor documentation, inconsistent onboarding, and fragmented process management. The platform lets teams build and maintain a living knowledge base of processes and SOPs, with built-in workflows to surface relevant information to employees when they need it.

Over 70% of Whale's customer base is located in the US, a notable achievement for a Belgian SME-focused SaaS, and the company has been expanding its go-to-market in both Europe and North America.

Whale raised EUR 1M in 2021 from Volta Ventures, Peak Capital, and the founding team, followed by a EUR 2.5M round in April 2023 from the same investors. Total funding is approximately EUR 3.5M.
