Background

Onno van de Stolpe founded Galapagos in 1999 as a spin-out from Tibotec and Crucell, and led the company as CEO for more than two decades, taking it public on Euronext Brussels and Nasdaq. He stepped down as CEO in 2022. Under his leadership, Galapagos grew into one of the largest biotech employers in Mechelen and a fixture in the Belgian life-sciences cluster alongside argenx and UCB.
