We had another great Geomob Belgium in Brussels yesterday 🇧🇪 Huge thanks to The Sister Cafe for hosting us, and to our sponsors ANYWAYS and Nazka Mapps for making the evening possible 🙏 A short recap of the four talks: 🔹 Alexandre Jaillon (Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)) - GIS Support to MSF Operations Alex gave us a very interesting peek inside MSF operations and how GIS plays a critical role there. The Missing Maps project was also presented as an integral part of all this. 🔹 Manuel Claeys Bouuaert - Topotijdreis.be Manuel showed us Topotijdreis.be, the (unofficial) Belgian sibling to the Dutch Topotijdreis.nl. As he did last time, he impressed us with what he built. Check it out: https://topotijdreis.be 🔹 Ides Bauwens (Nazka Mapps) - Wind In My Backyard (WIMBY) This was when the gaming part of the evening started. While presenting the WIMBY project, Ides also played a game with the audience. A bit strange for a Geomob event, but it worked very well and led to an interesting discussion about wind farms and data. Mission accomplished! 🔹 Oliver Thamm - Antiquity civilizations simulation engine Last but not least, Oliver gave us a tour of his global engine simulating antiquity civilizations, built on PostGIS and the NASA WorldWind framework. A real passion project, also presented at Geomob Berlin recently, that resonated strongly with the audience. 🏆 The audience picked Manuel and his Topotijdreis.be talk as their favourite of the night. No SplashMaps prize in Brussels but the coveted reward of eternal fame on the geomob website is his (again!).
