An AI pilot can look promising on paper. The model performs well, the dashboard looks convincing, and the first results give everyone a reason to pay attention.
But in supply chain, a good pilot is only the starting point.
The real test comes when teams need to use it in daily decisions. Planners need to understand the logic behind the recommendation. Leaders need to trust the data. Teams need to feel confident enough to rely on the output when trade-offs get complex.
That is where many AI initiatives slow down.
The barrier is often less about the model itself and more about whether the organization is ready to adopt it, scale it, and build decisions around it.
This is why I keep coming back to the same principle: if it doesn’t scale, it doesn’t count.
AI creates value when it moves beyond one use case and becomes part of how the value chain operates.
That shift is not only technical. It is organizational.
