Thank you to KVCV for inviting Catalisti to the Industry Day at the 10th EuChemS Chemistry Congress (ECC10) and thank you to our host for the day professor vera meynen from the University of Antwerp. We heard many inspiring presentations by companies and organisations such as TripleW Ammobia, Indaver, D-CRBN, ARK Capture Solutions, BlueChem, BlueApp, Creaflow, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, essenscia, University of Antwerp, Stad Antwerpen, and many more.
Interesting moment of contrast came up when Indaver CEO Karl Huts stated that Flanders currently is "officially closed for business" in the context of their efforts to scale up of their Plastics-to-Chemicals (P2C) facility. Huts cited stringent permitting barriers as a primary obstacle, despite the technology's proven capacity to advance circular applications. Shortly after, Antwerp Alderman Johan Klaps offered a contrasting perspective, asserting that "Antwerp is open for business."
Catalisti has collaborated closely with Indaver on several innovation projects foundational to the P2C technology. This public dialogue underscores a critical, sector-wide challenge: while the technological capacity for advanced circularity exists, local permitting frameworks must align to enable full industrial scaling.
