❓ Ask a biomanufacturing team how often they run a real process-improvement study. The honest answer is usually: "rarely". Once every couple of years, if it happens at all.
🤔 It's tempting to read that as a lack of ambition. It isn't. And it isn't a lack of skill either.
It's the data.
🤯 Before anyone can analyse anything, someone has to pull the data out of LIMS, ERP, historians and paper forms, clean it, align it, and make it audit-ready. That alone can take weeks or months. By the time it's ready, the moment has often passed. Worse: next time, almost none of that work carries over. You start again from scratch.
🤦 So the exercise that should be routine, a core business activity, becomes a rare, heavy project. Not because the analysis is hard, but because getting to the analysis is.
💡 It doesn't have to be this way. When a process is described once and its data flows into a common model, a validated dataset is a few clicks away, not a months-long effort.
That single shift — data ready in minutes instead of months — is what turns process improvement from a biennial event into everyday practice.
New short video on why improvement is so rare, and what changes when the data foundation is built once, up front.
