👁️ Most pharma data governance protects data by making it invisible. Privacy legislation and internal governance processes exist for good reason. The problem isn't that governance is too strict; it's architectural. When access is enforced system by system, a researcher has to specify exactly what data they need before they can request it, and they can only know that by having already seen the data. It's a deadlock built into how most governance gets implemented, and it's a big part of why a cohort request can take weeks to assemble and submit. Our latest post looks at what it takes to break that deadlock: aggregation by default, anonymity thresholds, data lineage, and a request path that carries its own audit trail.
