Placemaking works when residents help shape the space, not just react to it.
In La Riche, residents voted on where to plant 600+ trees. In Lancaster, mapping tools turned resident input into safer streets. In Nieuwkoop, engagement ranged from a regional energy strategy to something as everyday as balcony gardening.
Different places, different scales, but the same principle: ask residents a clear question at the right moment, and use what you hear to shape the place around them.
