"The regulation is necessary. But right now, Belgium still has no officially appointed supervisor." That's Christoph🔐 Balduck, CTO at 💾Data Trust Associates to VRT NWS. The catch most companies miss: the AI Act's transparency rules took effect on August 2nd, but Belgium has no watchdog to enforce them yet. FOD Economie / SPF Economie / FPS Economy has confirmed it; for now, these rights can only be enforced through the courts. With BIPT set to take on the role once the legislation clears parliament. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐲. No referee on the pitch doesn't mean there are no rules. The obligations already apply, and you can already be held to them. So waiting for the supervisor to be appointed is not an option, with implementation times for the AI Act and its high-risk (HRAI) systems exceeding 1.5 years. Could your organisation stand behind its own use of AI right now? Full VRT NWS story, including interactive story, link in the comments. #AIAct #AIGovernance #Compliance #DataTrustAssociates
