Not every AI tool is an agent.
And that distinction matters.
Peter van Hees, Innovation Manager and Keynote Speaker, joined AE's Digital Excellence Connect 2026 event to unpack the difference between AI as a tool and AI as an agent, and what that shift means for how organisations work, lead and compete.
A chatbot waits for instructions. An agent acts on its own, based on context and the guardrails you define. That is not a technical detail. It is a different way of organising work, and most organisations are further along on the technology than on the judgement calls that come with it.
