The revised CLP Regulation phases in its changes over several years. The first provisions, on data assessment and labelling exemptions, have applied since 1 July 2026. The next set, covering certain labelling requirements, applies from 1 January 2027.
In both cases the logic is the same: products placed on the market for the first time must comply from the start date, while those already in the supply chain have until the end of the transitional period.
For SDS and regulatory teams, that means classification, labelling and the way you prepare compliant Safety Data Sheets all need to reflect each set of requirements as it comes into force.
Keeping track of which rules apply to which products, and when, is exactly the kind of thing our SDS authoring software, ExESS, is designed to handle, so the right classification and labelling requirements are applied as each deadline arrives.
