Every time my house decided to charge its battery to dodge Flandersโ capacity tariff, that command travelled from Belgium to a ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฆ ๐๐ญ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฅ and back.
Until it failed. Or arrived 5 minutes late.
Sunday musings on why #sovereignty isn't an all-or-nothing purity test, and why the exact same lessons apply from a residential basement to enterprise AI.
A few weeks ago, I unplugged the WiFi logging stick from my Solis hybrid inverter and replaced it with a โฌ30 USB-to-RS485 adapter running Modbus RTU directly into Home Assistant.
The hardware didn't change. Itโs the same Chinese factory firmware, the same Pylontech battery, the same global supply chain.
Yet everything about the control loop transformed:

True sovereignty isn't about magical full-stack autarky, it's about owning your trust boundaries, interfaces, and control plane.
When you delete a 5,000 km round trip from your critical systems, sovereignty stops looking like a compliance tax and starts paying real performance dividends.
