How can Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) transparency be boosted across the continent through the upcoming EU Circular Economy Act? Despite current legal requirements in the EU Waste Framework Directive, EPR governance transparency remains inconsistent and often inadequate among Member States. Transparency should not be seen as an administrative burden; it is a precondition for an effective EPR scheme. Without clear, comparable information on how EPR costs, fees and revenues are calculated and used, EPR systems cannot be properly overseen, evaluated or trusted. We therefore must do more to improve regulatory oversight and strengthen producers' ability to understand and assess their obligations. Reloop has set out the key changes needed from the Circular Economy Act so EPR is trusted, accountable, and effective. 📄 Read Reloop's full mini briefing on transparency in EPR: https://lnkd.in/exaSM3XA Later this week, we’ll look at another critical part of effective EPR systems: monitoring🔍
