📐 We are developing ecodesign parameters and testing methods for home textiles and footwear.
🤝 Together with partners, ECOS works within the Horizon Europe STEPH Project to support the implementation of the EU’s ecodesign rules #ESPR, accelerate the adoption of ecodesign principles for home textiles and footwear, and inform relevant standardisation work.
🛏️ While we continue working on the ESPR Delegated Act on apparel, we look ahead to the vital implementation of ecodesign rules on home textiles and footwear - significant sources of environmental pressure and strong candidates for the next ESPR Working Plan in 2030.
👟 Footwear is responsible for 20% of all GHG emissions from producing textile products consumed in the EU. Home textiles and footwear combined use 60% of the total raw material needed to produce all textiles purchased by EU households (EEA, 2022).
🔎 We actively contribute to the STEPH consortium to ensure that proposed ecodesign parameters will be robust, ambitious, and truly address the environmental impacts of home textiles and footwear.
📢 The STEPH Project will be informed by a stakeholder network – follow and stay up to date on opportunities to get involved!
