STIB-MIVB operates Brussels’ public transport network across metro, tram and bus services. To improve coordination across the network, STIB/MIVB wanted to bring several dispatching and control teams into one integrated Operations Control Centre.

Joannes Vandermeulen and Kristel Van Ael took charge of a team that worked closely with STIB-MIVB to translate real operational needs into a functional layout of the new control centre. During a systemic design process, they tested thoroughly how teams could ideally work together, communicate and coordinate tasks before the new centre took shape.
