Antwerp Space
Antwerp Space is a Hoboken-based subsidiary of German space group OHB SE that designs satellite communication, navigation, and radar sub-systems for European space missions from its facilities in Antwerp.
Antwerp Space traces its origins to 1962, when it was founded as a space division inside the Alcatel Bell group in Antwerp. The company specialises in the delivery of satellite communication, navigation, and radar solutions, including ground-segment infrastructure and instruments for scientific and exploration missions. Its customers are mainly European institutional space programmes coordinated by ESA and national space agencies.
In July 2010 the company was acquired by German space group OHB SE, after which it took on its current name. Operating as part of the wider OHB group, Antwerp Space serves as the group's Belgian engineering centre for telecom and ground-segment hardware. The company employs around 60 to 70 engineers and PhDs at its site in Hoboken, where it operates an ISO 8 clean room opened in 2016 for the assembly and testing of flight equipment.
Antwerp Space contributes to flagship European programmes including Galileo, Copernicus, and various ESA science missions. It also participates in collaborative research consortia such as SPACEBEAM. The company is a member of Belgospace, the Belgian aerospace industry federation organised through Agoria.
