TLDR

CluePoints is a Wavre-based clinical trial data monitoring platform that uses statistical algorithms and AI to detect data quality issues and fraud in pharmaceutical and biotech research, now majority-owned by EQT.

Overview

Founded in 2012 in Belgium, CluePoints applies advanced statistics and machine learning to the problem of data integrity in clinical trials. Pharmaceutical and biotech companies, as well as contract research organizations, use the platform to identify risks, track ongoing issues, and monitor discrepancies throughout the drug development process.

By the time of its EQT transaction, CluePoints had more than 9,500 platform users, had helped de-risk more than 1,600 studies, and detected over 142,000 data issues for its customers. The company's customer base includes many of the top 20 largest pharmaceutical companies globally.

Summit Partners made a significant growth investment in CluePoints in 2020. In June 2024, EQT's Healthcare Growth Strategy and EQT Growth Fund agreed to acquire a majority stake in CluePoints, with meaningful reinvestment from management and existing shareholders Summit Partners and co-founder Clinimetrics SA. The EQT deal marked CluePoints as one of the more notable Belgian healthtech exits of 2024.
