Wooclap
TLDR
Wooclap is a Brussels-based active learning platform used by over 50 million learners globally that raised EUR 25M in September 2025 from Impact Expansion to accelerate international growth.
Overview
Founded in 2015 by Sebastien Lebbe and Jonathan Alzetta, engineering graduates from l'Ecole Polytechnique of Brussels, Wooclap was built around a core observation: students increasingly struggle to stay engaged in lectures, and smartphones are usually treated as the problem. Lebbe and Alzetta decided to make the smartphone part of the solution by building a live interaction platform that turns passive audiences into active participants.
The platform supports live polls, quizzes, word clouds, open questions, and collaborative exercises. Instructors project a Wooclap session on screen and students respond on their phones in real time. The tool is widely used in Belgian and French higher education institutions and has expanded significantly into corporate training markets. Wooclap is used by over 50 million learners globally.
The company raised EUR 350K in 2017, its first external capital. In September 2025, Wooclap raised EUR 25M in a growth round led by Impact Expansion, an impact-focused growth fund. The company described the round as confirming its profitable trajectory in EdTech, positioning Wooclap for accelerated international expansion and continued product innovation in active pedagogy.
