Ripple was founded in 2012 by Chris Larsen and Jed McCaleb and is headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company builds enterprise blockchain products on the XRP Ledger, offering cross-border payments, digital asset custody, stablecoin services, prime brokerage, and treasury management for financial institutions and businesses across 50+ countries.

Beyond its core product business, Ripple operates an active corporate venture program. Since 2015, the firm has deployed over $600M across more than 70 direct investments and 10+ limited partner fund positions. The portfolio is concentrated in Web3 infrastructure, digital asset market infrastructure, and blockchain-native companies.

Ripple has grown to 1,000+ employees across 15+ offices globally. In November 2025, the company raised $500M at a $40B valuation. Its acquisition activity has intensified in recent years, including the $250M purchase of Swiss crypto custody firm Metaco in 2023 and the acquisitions of Rail, Hidden Road, and GTreasury between 2025 and 2026.
