Alexander D'Hooghe is the CEO of solv, based in Brussels. He founded SOLV in June 2021 and has been a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since July 2018. Since July 2012 he has been founder and chief strategy officer of ORG, Permanent Modernity, having been a founding partner of the same practice from November 2003 to February 2022. Between September 2021 and September 2023 he chaired the board of Itinera Institute vzw.
At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology he was an associate professor with tenure and director of the Center for Advanced Urbanism from January 2005 until July 2018. Earlier he was a research fellow at the Berlage Institute from 2002 to 2005 and a visiting critic at the Harvard Design School from 2001 to 2002.
He holds a doctorate in urbanism from the Berlage Institute, a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University, and a master's degree in civil engineering-architecture from KU Leuven.
