Annelies Falepin runs venture creation at imec, turning 300+ technology ideas into 27 spinoff ventures over five years with a collective valuation exceeding EUR 350M.
Annelies Falepin is the operational heart of imec's venture creation pipeline. As Senior Venture Development Manager, she bridges the research labs and the market, taking raw technology concepts and building them into fundable, viable companies.
Over a five-year period, her team processed more than 300 technology ideas and converted 27 of them into active ventures. The collective valuation of this spinoff portfolio exceeded EUR 350M, making her one of the most impactful venture builders in Belgian deep tech despite operating outside the traditional VC spotlight.
imec, based in Leuven, is one of Europe's leading semiconductor and nanotechnology research institutes. Its spinoff program is the primary gateway for deep tech founders coming out of the Leuven academic ecosystem, and Annelies is the key operator inside that program.Career
