
Benoit Criel is the CEO of Optimile, based in Ghent. He joined the company as chief operating officer in June 2021 and took up the role of CEO in February 2023.
Before joining Optimile, Criel spent close to sixteen years at BNP Paribas Fortis, which he joined as a project manager in September 2005 and where he went on to hold a succession of roles: finance business architect, head of information management, deputy business operating officer for corporate and public banking, head of client and service management for infrastructure and operations, head of IT for customer intimacy and customer experience individuals, head of IT channels, head of IT invest and sponsor of the agile transformation, and area lead for invest and financial insurance and risk and credits.
Earlier in his career he was a management consultancy and business intelligence consultant at IBS, an applied intelligence services consultant at Norkom Technologies, and a consultant at ACL. He began as an assistant at Ghent University in September 1996.
Criel studied economics at Ghent University and holds a master in statistics from the University of Neuchâtel.
