
Bernard Sagaert is chief executive officer of etherna, a role he has held since October 2023. He is based in Wavre. Since October 2023 he has also served on the board of directors of the Alliance for mRNA Medicines, and since December 2012 he has been senior consultant life sciences and managing director at Inphacon. He was a board member of Biovia between April 2023 and July 2024.
Sagaert joined etherna in June 2017 as a GMP consultant and went on to hold a succession of roles there, as QA lead, QA/QC lead, vice president and later senior vice president of manufacturing, chief operational officer and interim CEO. From January 2017 to August 2024 he was a qualified person at H.Essers. Earlier he was vice president RA/QA EMEAA at Sterigenics, QA and supply chain director for Belgium at Mylan BVBA - Docpharma BVBA, and held several positions at Docpharma from 2005, including QA and RA director, technical operations director, qualified pharmacist, qualified person for pharmacovigilance and responsible for pharmaceutical information. He was RA manager and then also ICT manager at Purna Pharmaceuticals, and before that RA manager at Farmabel.
Sagaert studied pharmacy at KU Leuven, took a master in administration at the Université catholique de Louvain and completed qualified person and related programmes at the FAGG - AFMPS. He followed the Advanced Management Program at Vlerick Business School in 2022 and 2023.
