
Bernhard Paetzold is a co-founder of S-Biomedic, which he started in June 2014 and where he remains based in Beerse.
He completed a Diploma combining bachelor's and master's studies in biochemistry at the University of Tübingen between 2002 and 2008. During and after that period he held a series of research and trainee positions: he was a Hiwi at EMC microcollections from 2002 to 2005, a graduate trainee in the group of David Craik at the IMB, University of Queensland, in 2004, and a Hiwi in the Stehle group at the University of Tübingen in 2005 and 2006 and again in late 2008. Between 2006 and 2007 he was a trainee at the ESRF, the European Radiation Synchrotron Facility.
From November 2009 to December 2013 he was a PhD student in synthetic biology at the Centre for Genomic Regulation. He was also a founding member of Voice of the Researchers from March 2012 to May 2014.
