
Bert Coensel
Bert Coensel is co-founder and managing director of medisip, and is based in Gent. He had earlier co-founded ASAsense, where he was managing director from January 2015 to September 2021.
At Ghent University he was a PhD student from August 2002 to February 2007 and then a postdoctoral researcher until September 2008, before returning as assistant professor from October 2012 to September 2017 and as associate professor from October 2017 to September 2021. From October 2008 to September 2014 he held a postdoctoral fellowship of the Research Foundation Flanders - FWO, and during the first year of that period he was also a postdoctoral fellow of the BAEF at UC Berkeley. He was an adjunct lecturer at Griffith University from November 2010 to September 2021, and spent March and April 2004 as a visiting scholar at Stockholm University.
He studied at Ghent University, taking a bachelor's and a master's degree in engineering physics and a doctorate in acoustics, completed in 2007. He attended College O.L.V. van Deinsbeke from 1991 to 1997.
