
David Hutama is the co-founder of medisip and is based in Jakarta. Since September 2023 he has served as a co-PhD supervisor at Ghent University, and since January 2021 he has been a co-founder of Nenun Ruang and a visiting lecturer at Universitas Pelita Harapan. At BYO Living he has been coordinator of international relations since January 2021 and a research and development specialist since January 2022.
He held a research fellowship at KITLV, Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde, from October 2018 to August 2020. He was co-curator of Pavilion Indonesia for International Architecture Exhibition la biennale de Venezia 2014 from 2013 to 2014, and of Pavilion Indonesia Venice Biennale 2018 from 2017 to December 2018. He was a guest lecturer at Tokyo University of Science in May 2016. At Universitas Pelita Harapan he was a senior lecturer from January 2005 to January 2021 and chaired the department of architecture between June 2010 and November 2015, having previously been a visiting lecturer at the University of Indonesia from 2003 to 2004.
He studied architecture at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, took a master of engineering in architectural history and criticism at Toyohashi University of Technology, and completed a PhD in architecture at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in 2021.
