Erwin De Baetselier

Erwin De Baetselier is a co-founder of Luceda Photonics, based in Ghent. He was the company's CEO from June 2014 until August 2025, and since then has served on its board. He also holds board and executive roles elsewhere, sitting on the board of PlanOpSim since July 2026 and serving as vice president of sales and marketing at Thema Foundries since November 2025. He has owned ERVILA bvba since March 2013.

Before Luceda Photonics, De Baetselier consulted for Ghent University from 2013 to 2014 and was a customer service manager at Proximus during 2013. From 2009 to 2013 he was business development manager at Open Engineering - Home of OOFELIE::Multiphysics. He spent a decade at Agilent Technologies, managing software support and services for EMEA from 1999 to 2006 and then working as a product and program manager until 2009, having held the same EMEA support role at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, which he joined in 1997 as a senior R&D engineer in strategic business development.

De Baetselier researched at UGent from 1991 to 1997, completing a PhD in electronics there, and at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel from 1988 to 1991. He studied applied physics and medicine at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and took an MBT in business and technology at UNSW.
