Faruk Smajevic is the chief executive officer of A-NET, a role he has held since January 2018. He is based in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Between January 2017 and July 2022 he worked as a consultant for the International Finance Corporation, and during 2016 he was a consultant with Catholic Relief Services. From January 2014 to December 2018 he chaired the governing board of the Public Institution Center for children and adults with special needs Zenica-Doboj Canton. Earlier, from January 2000 until April 2017, he was executive director for IT, organisation and quality management at VGT Osiguranje.
He studied at the School of Economics and Business Sarajevo, completing a master's degree in management information systems between 2010 and 2014.
