Frederick Ducatelle

Frederick Ducatelle is a co-founder of CollectiveUP, where he is Head of AI Technologies, having joined the organisation as a research engineer and technical lead in April 2021. He is based in Gent. Since March 2024 he has also been a principal GenAI research engineer and technical lead at Cerence AI, which he joined in October 2019 as a senior manager of research science.

Before that he spent seven years at Nuance Communications, arriving in December 2012 as a natural language processing engineer, managing natural language processing research from January 2015 and holding a senior manager research science position in 2019. He worked at Vadis Technologies - A Moody's Company from September 2011 to November 2012, first as a research engineer and analytical consultant and then as a senior R&D engineer and technical lead.

Ducatelle was at IDSIA from 2002 to 2011, as a doctoral researcher, a postdoctoral researcher and then a researcher, completing a PhD in computer science there in 2007. He was a research assistant at the University of Edinburgh from September 2001 to March 2002, following an MSc in artificial intelligence there, and holds an MSc in commercial engineering in management informatics from KU Leuven.
