Geert Degroote
Geert Degroote is the CEO of Certipower, a role he has held since April 2021. He is based in Roeselare.
Before joining Certipower, he was Manager New Energies at TotalEnergies from January 2020 to April 2021, and country manager for Belgium at PitPoint clean fuels from August 2015 to January 2020. Earlier in 2015 he worked as a consultant at Degroote Consulting, and from September 2011 to January 2015 he was managing director of European Energy Pooling. He headed portfolio management at EconGas GmbH between 2008 and 2011, having previously worked at Distrigas from 2004 to 2008 on portfolio optimisation and hedging. He began his career as a gas trader at Norsk Hydro from 2001 to 2004.
Degroote studied economics at KU Leuven, graduating with a master's degree in 2000, and then completed a DESS in quantitative economics and transport management at the University of Montpellier in 2001. He attended Sint-Vincentiuscollege Ieper from 1990 to 1996.
