Hakan Taner
Hakan Taner is the founder and chief executive of Matteriall, a company he started in October 2021. He is based in Brussels.
Before founding Matteriall, he was product manager for armour steel at NLMK Europe from August 2018 to April 2020, and before that an application engineer at Comus International from February 2016 to August 2018. Between June 2011 and November 2015 he was co-founder of Nanografi Co. Ltd., where he served as technical and commercial manager. Earlier he worked as a research assistant at Tallinn University of Technology from September 2010 to May 2011, and completed an internship at ArcelorMittal in 2007.
Taner studied metallurgical and materials engineering at Eskişehir Osmangazi Üniversitesi, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering in 2009, and spent part of 2007 on a student exchange programme in the mechanical engineering department of Tallinna Tehnikakõrgkool. He completed a Master of Science in materials and processes of sustainable energetics at TalTech, Tallinn University of Technology, in 2011. He attended Ankara Atatürk Lisesi, studying science and maths.
