Jan Peeters

Jan Peeters is CEO of Portima, the Brussels-based Insurtech cooperative that runs the broker management software and data-exchange network used by most independent insurance brokers in Belgium.

Overview

Peeters started his career in 1998 at Andersen Consulting, later Accenture, where over more than 17 years he led CRM and IT transformation programmes for insurers in Belgium and abroad. He then joined Avanade Belgium, building digital solutions for insurance customers, before moving to Portima as CEO in September 2018. He completed Vlerick Business School's Advanced Management Programme in 2018-2019.

At Portima he runs the cooperative's product strategy around Brio, Portima Connect, and the e-GOR pension-file platform acquired through the Insurtech startup Harukey in 2022. His public positioning emphasises an open-API ecosystem where Belgian Insurtech startups plug into Brio rather than compete with it, and recent priorities have included AI integration in the broker workflow and the cooperative's 40th anniversary programme in 2024. He has been a volunteer coach at the Streetwize mobile education initiative since 2015.
