TLDR

Johan Decuyper is the CEO of skeyes, the Belgian autonomous public air navigation service provider.

Overview

Johan Decuyper serves as Chief Executive Officer of skeyes and is a member of its Board of Directors. He joined Belgocontrol (the predecessor of skeyes) in 2013, having previously held the role of Head of Cabinet at the Belgian Secretary of State for Mobility. He arrived at an organisation that had been struggling financially and operationally; after about a year he implemented a new management structure and negotiated a new multi-year management contract with the Belgian State, after which the company returned to financial health.

Since 2014 the Executive Committee under his leadership, working with the Board of Directors, has set the future-oriented vision, mission, and strategy of the organisation. Under his tenure Belgocontrol was rebranded to skeyes in November 2018 on its twentieth anniversary, the company launched its digital remote-towers programme with Saab, and it began joint development of the SAS3 air traffic management system with EUROCONTROL and the Belgian Ministry of Defence. Decuyper has also chaired the Strategic Board of the Functional Airspace Block Europe Central (FABEC), grouping air navigation service providers of Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, and Switzerland, since 2017, as the first Belgian to hold that role.
