Jonas Engels

Jonas Engels is a co-founder of octave and is based in Antwerp. He co-founded Octave Energy in March 2021, where he served as head of BESS until June 2026, and in February 2026 he took up a project management role at Florion.

From August 2016 to December 2021 he was a research engineer at Centrica Business Solutions Belgium | REstore | Demand Response. He had earlier worked as a consultant at Sia Partners from November 2014 to October 2015, and held a student job at Electa, esat, KU Leuven in 2013. Between October 2011 and June 2014 he tutored at Sagio.be.

Engels carried out doctoral research at KU Leuven from November 2015 to January 2020, completing a PhD in electrical engineering there in 2020. He also holds a master's degree in energy engineering from KU Leuven and a bachelor's degree in mechanical and electrical engineering from the same university, and studied energy engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 2012. He attended Sint-Gummarus College Lier and spent a year abroad with AFS Intercultural Programs.
