Karolien Maes

Karolien Maes is a co-founder of AmphiStar, where she has headed bioprocessing since July 2021. She is based in Gent.

She began at Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant as a student trainee in August 2016, became a process engineer in August 2017 and led the bioprocessing team from January 2020 until January 2024, a period that overlapped with the founding of AmphiStar.

Maes studied at Ghent University, completing a Bachelor of Science in de bio-ingenieurswetenschappen, chemie en voedingstechnologie in 2015 and a Master of Science in de bio-ingenieurswetenschappen, chemie en bioprocestechnologie in 2017.
