Kris Boudt

Kris Boudt is the founder and chief executive of Sentometrics, which he started in February 2023, and is based in Gent. Since 2019 he has been professor of finance and econometrics at Ghent University and professor of data science for finance and insurance in the UGent Master of Banking and Finance. He has held professorships in finance and econometrics at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and, as associate professor, at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam since 2013, and has taught the DataCamp courses on GARCH models with R and introduction to portfolio analysis in R since 2016. In November 2025 he became an expert on the Hoge Raad voor Ethiek van Loterij- en Kansspelen for The National Lottery, and in March 2026 he took up an advisory role at Bikon.

Boudt was assistant professor of finance at KU Leuven from 2009 to 2013. He completed a Ph.D. in applied economics (econometrics) at KU Leuven, where he was a doctoral research assistant and later a doctoral researcher for the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). He studied business engineering and economics at the UniversitƩ de Namur.
