
Liesbeth Ceelen is the chief executive officer of Biolizard, based in Ghent. She joined the company in November 2019 as director of business development and board member, became general manager and board member in November 2020, and took up the role of CEO in November 2021.
She has run Ceelen Consultancy as an independent consultant since 2013, and holds advisory board roles at Novalis Biotech Incubation, BIO INX and the Stad Gent Entrepreneurship Council. She is a board member of RheumaFinder, a task leader in REPO4EU, a mentor with biotope by VIB and an associate member of Women on Board Belgium. From 2021 to 2023 she was a director at large for marketing and communications with the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association in Brussels.
Earlier she was chief business officer at Pathomation, head of sales and key account manager at Biogazelle, business developer at Vision4Care, and worked at MindCapture and at Anacura, where she was business innovation manager and platform leader for histopathology and molecular diagnostics. She was a technical auditor for BELAC, a post-doctoral assistant at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a study director for preclinical safety studies at Janssen Pharmaceutica/J&J.
Ceelen studied veterinary medicine at the University of Antwerp and Ghent University, where she completed a PhD, and holds an Executive MBA from Vlerick Business School.
