
Lieven Vervecken is a co-founder and chief executive officer based in Leuven. Since February 2026 he has held the roles of co-founder and CEO at a VC-backed stealth startup. He founded Diabatix in November 2015 and served as its founder and CEO until October 2025, remaining with the company as founder until January 2026.
Before that, Vervecken was a PhD fellow at SCK CEN from October 2011 to October 2015. Earlier he held a student job at Argon Measuring Solutions in 2009, and worked in a student job at Materialise between 2005 and 2010.
He studied mechanical engineering at KU Leuven, completing a master's degree in 2010, followed by a master's in nuclear engineering (BNEN) in 2011 and a PhD on the atmospheric dispersion of radioactive gases in 2015. In 2020 he took the Scale-up Masterclass at Vlerick Business School. He states expertise in leadership, engineering design, engineering, and research and development.
