Magnus Olson

Magnus Olson is Chief Technology Officer at ESTEL, a position he took up in September 2024. He is based in Stockholm.

Before joining ESTEL, Olson spent nearly a decade at Infinera, where he held a succession of hardware engineering roles from March 2015 onwards: senior director of hardware engineering, then senior director of global hardware development from July 2017, then senior director of hardware engineering for pluggable optics product line management from August 2019, and finally vice president of hardware engineering between August 2022 and August 2024.

He joined Infinera from Transmode, where he managed the opto team from March 2008 and served as director of hardware engineering from March 2011. Earlier, he was project office manager at PacketFront Software from 2005 to 2008, group manager for access technologies at Acreo AB from 1998 to 2005, and a research engineer and technical project manager at the Institute of Optical Research in Stockholm from 1994 to 1998.

Olson holds a master's degree in physics from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, completed in 1993.
