Michael Callens

Michael Callens is a co-founder of REIN4CED and is based in Leuven. He co-founded the company in January 2015 and served as its CEO until October 2022, then as CTO until November 2024, before returning to the role of CEO from December 2024 to December 2025. Since May 2026 he has been the founder of a new venture.

Callens studied at KU Leuven, where he completed a bachelor's degree in applied science and engineering with a focus on mechanical engineering between 2005 and 2008, followed by a master's degree in materials engineering from 2008 to 2010. He went on to a PhD in materials engineering at the same university from 2010 to 2014, and remained there as a postdoctoral researcher from October to December 2014. Between 2018 and 2019 he followed the KMO Excellence programme at Vlerick Business School.
