Michael Garrett

Michael Garrett is the chief executive officer of ExeVir, a role he took up in December 2024, and is based in Gent. Since June 2019 he has also been the owner of Shothanger Consulting.

He joined Flamingo Therapeutics as chief executive officer in February 2020, holding that position until February 2023, and returned to the company as chief operating officer from March to December 2023. From February 2015 to February 2020 he was chief business officer at EnBiotix, Inc., and over much of the same period, from 2015 to February 2020, a partner at Technology Commercialization Group (TCG). Earlier he was vice president of corporate development at Scynexis from 2006 to 2014, managing director of PharmaVent from 2004 to 2006, vice president, ventures at BTG from 2001 to 2003, managing partner of Genavent at Aventis from 1998 to 2001, and venture capital coordinator at Rhone-Poulenc Rorer in 1998.

Garrett holds a BSc in chemistry from the University of Southampton, studied intellectual property law at Queen Mary University of London, and completed the Cedep general management programme at INSEAD.
