Paul Maes

Paul Maes is the CEO of Aquilon Pharma, a role he has held since June 2016, and is based in Visé. He had previously served as chairman of the board of the same company from October 2013 to September 2022.

He holds several other continuing roles. He has been a collaborateur at ULiège with HEC-ULg since January 2014, a consultant and investor with Trimel BioPharma, now Acerus Pharma, since 2009, the owner of Euzao since December 2008, and a director of Maes Pharm@Consult since November 2005. Between January 2008 and March 2012 he was EVP and investor at PurGenesis Technologies Inc, now the Devonian group, and from August 2005 to June 2016 he was an external partner at aXialyze.

Earlier in his career he was a vice-president at Biovail corporation from 1998 to 2005, with responsibility for pharmaceutical technology, having spent the years from 1984 to 1998 as a vice-president at SMB Galephar.

Maes studied at the University of Liège, taking a master's degree in pharmacy from 1977 to 1982, followed by a certificate in bioanalysis and a legal degree as industry pharmacist between 1982 and 1984.
