
Pierre Cherelle is the founder, CEO and a board member of Axiles Bionics, based in Brussels. He states expertise in robotics, medical devices, prosthetics, prosthetic rehabilitation and business development.
He took up his current role in February 2019, having joined Axiles Bionics in June 2017 to work on business development and fundraising. Between July 2018 and August 2019 he was also a private equity investment associate at PE group.
Before that he spent his career at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where he was a spin-off entrepreneur in robotics and AI from March 2014 to May 2017, and, from February 2008 to February 2014, a PhD researcher in robotics engineering and a teaching assistant. He studied at the same university throughout, taking a bachelor's degree in physics from 2002 to 2005, a master's degree in physics from 2005 to 2007, and a PhD in mechatronics and robotics engineering, completed in 2014.
