Pieter-Jan Note

Pieter-Jan Note is the co-founder and CEO of mahi, a company he started in August 2021. He is based in Wavre. Between January 2024 and December 2025 he also served as a board member of One Sea.

Before mahi, Note spent almost four years at Flanders Make, where he joined in October 2017 as an application engineer for autonomous systems, became project manager for autonomous systems in March 2019 and then core lab manager for MotionS from April 2020 until August 2021. He had earlier worked as a marine design engineer at Jan De Nul Group from October 2014 to September 2017. In June 2015 he co-founded Project Mahi, where he was also team lead until March 2022.

Note studied mechanical engineering and then aeronautics and aerospace science and technology at KU Leuven, taking a bachelor's degree in 2011 and a master's degree in 2013. He followed a CFD workshop at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2012 and completed an MSc in naval architecture and marine engineering, specialising in yacht and small craft, at the University of Southampton in 2014, where he was an MSc course representative.
