
Roy Heerkens
Roy Heerkens is a co-founder of opstudio, which he started in June 2024, and is based in Tessenderlo. He has been an MES automation engineer at Pfizer since February 2023, and takes up a role as OT MES engineer at Stellantis in May 2026.
He spent close to five years at VistaLink NV, joining in June 2018 as a field service engineer, moving to computer vision engineer in December 2019 and then to software engineer from June 2021 until February 2023. Before that he worked as a manufacturing technician at Sanofi from August 2016 to May 2018.
Heerkens studied chemical process technology at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, graduating in 2016, and completed a thesis at the University of Gdansk on the optimisation of native human B-defensin 3 chemical synthesis. His stated areas of expertise include software development, project management, manufacturing execution systems, good manufacturing practice and industrial process optimisation.
