
Stefan Smet
Stefan Smet is CEO of District09, a role he has held since September 2023. He is based in Gent, and states expertise in digital strategy, change management, IT sourcing, digital transformation and IT governance.
Before joining District09 he was director of ICT services at Digitaal Vlaanderen from June 2021 to September 2023, having held the same role at the Vlaamse Overheid from January 2018 to May 2021. He spent a decade at the Flemish Agency for Social Housing, first as IT project manager from October 2007 and then as IT manager from June 2013 until December 2017. Earlier he worked in the IT PMO of the Secretary of State for Mobility between March 2005 and October 2007, and as a junior export manager at EUROFACTOR HISPANIA - CALYON (Crédit Agricole Group) from October 2002 to July 2003.
He studied at Ghent University, taking a master's degree in business administration from 1998 to 2002 and postgraduate qualifications in development cooperation and in computer science. In 2013 he completed an executive programme in ICT management at Vlerick Business School.
