Stephane Van Rooijen
Stephane Van Rooijen is chief executive officer of Flamingo Therapeutics and is based in Leuven. He took up the role in March 2023, holding it until December 2025, and since 2024 has also volunteered as a mentor with the Termeer Institute.
Before joining Flamingo Therapeutics, he was chief executive officer of Dynacure from 2016 to 2023 and of Confo Therapeutics from 2014 to 2016. Between 2012 and 2014 he was a director at ViroPharma Incorporated, which was acquired by Shire in 2014. He spent 2005 to 2012 at Genzyme, a Sanofi Division, first as director of commercial development and finance and then as senior director for cardiovascular Europe within the rare diseases division. Earlier, he was a manager at Arthur D. Little from 1996 to 2004, and practised medicine from 1994 to 1996.
He holds a Doctor of Medicine from KU Leuven and a full-time MBA from Erasmus University Rotterdam, with an exchange MBA at Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.
